DESCRIPTION:   Meredith Historical Society has more than a dozen scrapbooks in its collection that contain newspaper articles folks cut out and saved long ago. Several such articles will be presented in this program.  You will hear about: \n\nPearl Johnson’s experience in 4-H\, both as a child in the 1920s and as 4-H club leader.\nCharlie Haynes recollections of his years working as a blacksmith in East Meredith.\nThe flood in East Meredith in 1892.\nAlbert Strickland’s trip to Oneonta to see the first passenger train arrive in 1865.\nCecil Francisco’s oxen and how he trains them to work.\nThe forced closing of the District 16 School (Shackport) in 1967.\nAn evening program in East Meredith’s Thompson Hall in 1893.\nThe largest work horses in Meredith.\n\nPrint
