In this program, Ben will share his memories of growing up on the Shaw family farm on Honest Brook Road during the 1940s and 1950s.  He’s chronicled his memories in a book titled, My Own Side of the Mountain. There is a hill on Honest Brook Road which appeared to be a mountain to Ben when he was a child.  The book title was inspired by the fictional story, “My Side of the Mountain” by Jean Craighead George, in which Sam Gribley ran away from home to live on his great-grandfather’s abandoned farm near Delhi.  Ben’s parallel to Sam is that he was reared on his great-grandfather, Watson Taylor Shaw’s farm, which was within a few miles of the setting of Sam Gribley’s story.
