   Meredith Historical Society has more than a dozen scrapbooks in its collection that contain newspaper articles folks cut out and saved long ago. Several such articles will be presented in this program.  You will hear about:

  • Pearl Johnson’s experience in 4-H, both as a child in the 1920s and as 4-H club leader.
  • Charlie Haynes recollections of his years working as a blacksmith in East Meredith.
  • The flood in East Meredith in 1892.
  • Albert Strickland’s trip to Oneonta to see the first passenger train arrive in 1865.
  • Cecil Francisco’s oxen and how he trains them to work.
  • The forced closing of the District 16 School (Shackport) in 1967.
  • An evening program in East Meredith’s Thompson Hall in 1893.
  • The largest work horses in Meredith.
